Dr Alex McIntosh is one of New Zealand’s most experienced Dental Implant Surgeons as he has been placing dental implants since 1985 and he continues to be at the forefront of dental implant placement and dental implant restoration due to his extensive experience and advanced up to date expert knowledge in this area of dentistry.
He graduated from Otago University in 1978. In 1979 he was a tutor at the School of Dentistry in Dunedin. He then became the senior dental house surgeon at Auckland Hospital and the Plastic Surgical Dental Unit at Middlemore Hospital.
Alex commenced private practice in 1981 and since then has developed McIntosh Dental Centre into one of the leading dental practices in New Zealand.
His special interests are in dental implants, orthodontics for children and adults, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr McIntosh is highly regarded in his field and regularly gives lectures on orthodontics and dental implants. He is one of New Zealand’s most experienced Dental Surgeons in implant dentistry in advanced complex cases (both surgical and restorative).
Dr McIntosh is enthusiastic about dentistry and the way it can improve everyone’s quality of life. Outside of his work, he enjoys spending time with his family, road cycling and swimming.

Milan graduated from Otago University in 1999. Since joining McIntosh Dental Centre in 2003, Dr Raniga has earned a reputation as a friendly dentist who delivers only the very best dental care. Many patients seek out Dr Raniga after hearing about his skills from their friends or family. Dr Raniga has a special interest in Orthodontics for adults and children and is an accredited Invisalign provider.
He has completed a mini-residency in Orthodontics with EODO (Excellence in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics). In addition to this, he has worked in a Specialist Orthodontic practice in Sydney for 3 years under the guidance of Dr Derek Mahoney. Dr Raniga shares Dr Mahoney’s full face Orthodontic philosophy, whereby removal of teeth is avoided where possible. This creates not just beautiful teeth but beautiful faces.
Dr Raniga is a great communicator and takes the time to carefully explain your treatment plan before beginning treatment. His gentle approach allows time for you to become comfortable with the procedure and your surroundings so that you can enjoy the best dental experience possible. He is passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives through dentistry, especially young individuals by giving them a confident new smile.
Dr Raniga enjoys spending time with his two children, playing cricket and practicing yoga. He was born in Fiji and went to school in Auckland.

As a teenager, Nitesh underwent orthodontics, which showed him how a change in function and aesthetics can help an individual. He also had some pretty uncomfortable past dental experiences – dental needles used to freak him out.
In choosing dentistry as a profession, Dr Gangadin always looks forward to building valued relationships with his patients. Being in the dental chair might not be the happiest place for everyone. Nitesh feels proudest when his patients express their gratitude from having a pleasant and comfortable experience with him.
After graduating as a dentist, Dr Gangadin continued to evolve professionally. He has completed two postgraduate studies in both South Africa (University of Western Cape) and New Zealand ( University of Otago). In 2005 he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry and in 2014 he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Periodontics. His current special interest is “gums”. Gum disease is still prevalent in New Zealand and affects all ages.
Nitesh is furthering his experience in dental implants and cosmetic dentistry after joining the team at McIntosh Dental in 2010.
Dining out and sampling Auckland’s different restaurants’ is a weekly passion. Building solid and positive friendships around him is important to Nitesh. On a fun side, he will never miss a horror movie or a night in playing PlayStation games.
Nitesh has delved into academics and enjoys his role lecturing to AUT Oral Health students on a part-time basis. He has enjoyed building great working relationships with the McIntosh and AUT teams. Being South African born, Nitesh is happy to have been adopted as a Kiwi and is looking forward to doing more things as a proud New Zealander.

Robert graduated from Otago University in 1976 and commenced private practice in Henderson in 1977. In 1988 he completed the inaugural distance teaching programme for the Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry. He then developed Lincoln Dental Centre into one of the leading family dental practices in New Zealand.
After 40 years of practicing in Henderson, Robert incorporated Lincoln Dental Centre with McIntosh Dental in early 2018.
The joy he brings to people by restoring their smiles and oral function makes his day – every day.
Outside of dentistry, Robert enjoys sailing, especially exploring the coast of New Zealand with all its offshore islands. This has become even more enjoyable when sharing the experience with his grandchildren.

Ian is a locally born and raised West Aucklander who is actually a past patient of McIntosh Dental! Now he has come full-circle to be a valued member of our team.
Ian has an extensive educational background, beginning with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago and further distinguished by his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Currently, Ian is expanding his expertise at King’s College London in the United Kingdom, pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Dentistry with a focus in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics.
Ian is excited to be working in the region that he grew up in, providing quality dental care to the local community. He loves working with and assisting local communities, and has helped coordinate community-driven projects both inside and outside the world of dentistry.
Outside of work Ian is a big fan of the outdoors and enjoys photographing beautiful scenery. One of his goals is to complete all of the ‘Great Walks’ in New Zealand. For downtime, he says you can’t beat relaxing with a good book.

Dr. Joyce understands how much healthy teeth and a beautiful smile can add to your quality of life.
Prior to her university studies in Otago, it was her own orthodontist who inspired her to become a dentist, and this was in line with her aspiration to work in healthcare to nurture and help people to return to their best state of health. After working in Waikato and Otago for a few years, she decided to move to Auckland to join her family.
Dr Joyce’s special interests includes aesthetic, biomimetic dentistry, orthodontics and Invisalign and minor oral surgery.
She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Malay. Dr Chieng likes to help you to make oral health simple and customized to your lifestyle and building long-term relationships with people. In her spare time she enjoys pilates, badminton, and exploring new food experiences.

Dr Harveer Khosa graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science before going on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry. He has been working in the dental profession for more than 6 years and with broad experience in both general and specialised dentistry, he is a valuable addition to the McIntosh Dental team.
As well as general dentistry, Dr Khosa has a special interest in preventative dentistry, indirect restorations, full mouth rehabilitations, endodontics and root canal treatment.
Being able to help nervous patients to relax and feel comfortable is the part of Dr Khosa’s job that he finds most rewarding – especially when they begin to actually enjoy visiting the dentist! It is important to him to treat and guide patients to optimal oral health care, preserving their oral health and reducing the chances of long-term complications developing.
Outside of work, Dr Khosa spends most of his free time with his young son but also enjoys playing golf with friends and going on local hikes with his family. He is also a keen traveller both around New Zealand and internationally.

Dr Rakesh Jattan has returned to McIntosh Dental after several years overseas extending his training and gaining invaluable experience. He originally completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Otago in 2000 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Dental Surgery in 2009. His specialist fellowship was gained at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2014, which was followed by a fellowship in Orthognathic surgery and head and neck oncology in the UK three years later.
Dr Jattan provides specialist oral and maxillofacial surgical treatments for McIntosh Dental patients, with areas of specialty including wisdom teeth, difficult cases of impacted or un-erupted teeth and dental implants.
Rakesh’s services are part of our Southern Cross Affiliated Provider team. He is also a consultant OMFS surgeon on the Auckland and Counties Manukau District Health Boards.

Waverley Nation is McIntosh Dental’s resident denture clinician. She has over 20 years’ experience in the dental profession. Her dentures have been the key to giving back her many patients their confidence.
As well as taking care of her patients chairside, Waverley runs the laboratory where the dentures are fabricated. This ensures strict quality controls are adhered to when making dentures from start to finish.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and travelling, exploring and going on adventures around New Zealand as a family.

Sarwin is an Oral Health Therapist (a dual qualified Dental Hygienist and Therapist) and joined McIntosh Dental in 2006. Sarwin offers treatments to teenage patients as a Dental Therapist under the government scheme. He also sees the practice’s private patients for their Dental Hygiene treatments.
Sarwin has worked with the Auckland Regional Dental Board and brings a wealth of experience to McIntosh Dental.
He enjoys the relationships he builds with his patients and finds the ability to make a positive change for them very rewarding.
Happily married, Sarwin also has an adorable daughter that visits the practice often and delights the team.

Ash works at McIntosh Dental as Dr McIntosh’s Dental Auxiliary. He says that the team at McIntosh are great and he really enjoys working there.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery BDS (Fiji) in 2007.
Ash enjoys working at McIntosh Dental Centre because he is constantly being exposed to a lot of different types of dentistry, such as ‘New Teeth on 4’, dental implants, wisdom tooth surgery, and cosmetic dentistry.
When he is not at work, his hobbies include playing soccer, netball, volleyball, and he loves cars. Ash also loves to cook.

Ashley works at McIntosh Dental as a dual-trained dental hygienist and therapist.
She enjoys providing a variety of dental care to her patients including the dental care of children under 18 years of age, the preventive hygiene care of patients of all ages, and assisting Dr Raniga in his orthodontic and general dentistry work. There isn’t a boring day at McIntosh Dental!
When Ashley isn’t at the clinic, she loves going to nice places and trying new restaurants like a true foodie and has recently started rock climbing, which she has come to enjoy as a leisure activity and sport.

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Melinda moved to New Zealand four years ago. She believes that dentistry is one of the most rewarding careers, particularly in the field of orthodontics where the results she and her team achieve last a lifetime. She says it’s such a pleasure to see the smiles on people’s faces knowing that you have made a real difference. Her bubbly, outgoing personality makes it easy for her to put even nervous patients at ease and enjoy their appointments.
Melinda has a real passion for travel, including travelling to Nepal twice to go trekking and getting engaged in Bali! With lots of family in Australia she hopes that travel will become a normal option again one day soon.
